Honey Laundering

China, and others, dump millions of tons of honey in countries around the world because their US import tariff is over US$3 per kilogram (2.2lbs). They cook the honey, removing the pollen so it can’t be sourced, thereby killing all of the beneficial antioxidants and enzymes. They dilute it with high fructose corn syrup to increase the tonnage. They dump it in “3rd-Party Countries” who export it to the US as their own. Huge honey brokers buy these imports and blend it with hundreds of tons of other honey for a generic, homogenized consistency with no regard for antibiotics, HFCS, and pesticides. Unfortunately, that is what’s sitting on the majority of US grocery shelves.
